I went here yesterday and ended up coming back again today because of their cold noodles, Zaru Udon. The Zaru Udon with Shogayaki was an excellent combo, a must-try, and honestly the reason I returned so quickly. On my first visit, the sushi rice wasn’t sticky enough and the rolls broke apart when I dipped them in soy sauce. I mentioned it to them, and on the second day the rice was much better, so that was a big improvement. The tofu still wasn’t as buttery or smooth as expected, just average. The Katsudon was fine but not the best I’ve had, and probably something I wouldn’t order again. Negima was also average, I tried it for the first time, but I personally didn’t like it much. They serve a small starter and dessert with the meal, which was a nice touch. I got a small potato cutlet as a starter and a caramelized custard for dessert. I even met a Japanese guest there who mentioned that the food is quite close to what you would get in Japan, which was encouraging. The people were really nice and the hospitality was good, which made the overall experience better. Overall, I’d say it’s the kind of place where, while you are eating, you might not think it’s the absolute best, but as soon as you leave, you want to go back again. That was exactly my feeling, so I would highly recommend it.

The atmosphere was calm, cozy, and welcoming. The food was exceptionally tasty and fresh, and the service was impeccable. We tried the Katsudon, Okonomiyaki, and Gyoza, everything was made to order and tasted amazing. The staff were wonderful and even treated us to complimentary tea and potato croquettes. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience authentic Japanese food in Kathmandu!

Excellent Value and Delicious Food! Nagomi Japanese Restaurant is a true gem in Thamel! This is a great, cozy spot to hang out with friends, and the food offers great value for money. Everything we tried was delicious. The Teriyaki Chicken was excellent, tender and perfectly glazed. The Udon was also a major highlight, served in a rich and flavorful thick soup. The service was also wonderful; the staff were very nice and attentive, and they happily provided extra side dishes when requested, which really added to the meal. If you're looking for authentic Japanese food with a lovely, small-place atmosphere and great prices, look no further than Nagomi!
